Most of us take our dads for granted.

They're someone who's there when we need them the most; they're there when we don't want them to be; and they're there when we least expect them to be. We don't question it, we just accept it.

I consider myself one of the luckiest people there is. My dad does what he does because he wants to, not because he has to.

You see, my biological parents divorced when I was really young. My mom remarried not long after, and my biological father has been an almost non-existent part of my life. My stepfather has been a part of my life since I was 3, fulfilling every role a dad should.

So to my dad, and all the others out there like him, thank you for being a part of my life. Thank you for all the ballgames you watched, times you stood up for me and even that time you threatened to break a guys kneecaps for making me cry.

Thanks for doing all those things you never had to do.
