I tend to shy away from t-shirt dresses because they're so plain, but I was instantly drawn to this one from Forever 21 thanks to the mesh cut-outs on the sleeves and around the hem. They take this dress from basic to unique. And the material is super soft and stetchy, making it super comfortable, and it didn't wrinkle after sitting at a desk all day. Since this is from Forever 21, I sized up to a large. Also, I only buy pieces from their contemporary line because they're cut a little bigger and usually are better quality. This dress is under $20 regular priced and comes in olive green and white as well.

Sometimes I just need a reminder. Not everyone will like you, and that's okay. Keep doing your own thing and chasing your own happiness. Not everyone is meant to be part of it.
Happy Monday!
I'm not overly religious, but how motivational is this verse from 1 Thessalonians? I think this is a wonderful message for any type of leader or manager, including myself. My newsroom has finally reached a balance where I'm only producing our midday show and supervising our evening shows. It's a chance for our younger producers to stretch their wings and really come into their own. Of course, I still have to address issues as they arise, but I am working to be more encouraging and help build them up. After all, an executive producer is only as good as her weakest producer.
Happy Monday!
When Dia&Co. approached me about doing a fashion post based on facing your fashion fears, I almost said no. I didn't want to go out and buy a risky new item I might hate just for the sake of a blog post, and at first I couldn't think of anything I already owned, alone or in combination with some other piece, that would fit, especially in a work setting. Then I remembered this dress.
Maxis aren't something I usually go for; they're typically too long and too baggy in the top. But this one is beautiful and with heels was actually manageable. But then something terrible happened. The first time I tried to wear it out, it snagged on something and got a huge tear. So the night before I wanted to wear it to work, I spent 20 minutes with a needle and thread trying my best to mend it. I don't think I did too badly.
For work I paired it with my tried-and-true lace jacket and new black sandals. But this dress could easily be worn to a wedding or for a date night or even just a day of shopping.

It's graduation season so I thought I'd turn this week's motivation into a message of sorts for graduates. In the eight years that I've worked at my station I've dealt with a few dozen fresh-out-of-school men and women, some who have been woefully entitled and others who think they learned everything they needed to know at school. So here's my advice for this newest crop of grads -- life doesn't owe you anything and you didn't learn everything there is to learn about this or any job in school. And even if you are extremely talented, no one likes a braggart. I'll take a humble, teachable person who's genuinely interested in learning the craft any day.
Happy Monday!
