The Easiest Sugar Cookie Recipe Ever
I am not a baker. If you've been around long enough, you've heard that line several times before. I am a pre-made cookie dough, cake from a box dessert maker. But every now and again, I'll attempt to make something from scratch, especially if it's simple. And it doesn't get much simpler than this!
Ingredients
- 2 sticks unsalted butter (or 1 cup)
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
2. In a medium bowl, combine butter and sugar. It's going to be gritty because of the sugar, but the butter should be smooth. I used my handheld mixer, but you can use a stand mixer if you'd rather.
3. Add in flour. Blend well. I started with my mixer, but once it was mostly combined I swapped to my hands.
4. Roll dough into roughly 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet 2 inches apart. I used the flat side of spoon to slightly flatten them.
5. Bake for 15 minutes, or until they're just starting to brown on the bottom.
6. Remove from oven but leave on baking sheet for another 10-15 minutes. This is where we added pieces of a fun-size Hershey's chocolate bar.
