6 Books I'm Currently Reading
Probably not surprisingly, I've already finished one new book this month. What might surprise you is my inability to start and stick with anything else new. I've been in a funk the last couple of weeks, and it's been reflected in my reading choices. Instead of reaching for something new, I've sought out the familiarity of my favorite, most-read books, and spent last week rereading the All the Pretty Monsters series by Kristy Cunning. I'm also halfway rereading the Kit Davenport, Hijinks Harem, Redemption, Infinity Chronicles, and Survivors series.
That's not to say that I'm not trying to branch out and add some new titles to my read column. So, the following six books are ones that I've read at least the first chapter of and which I plan on continuing.
What are you reading right now?
City of Girls - Yes, I know this one was part of my last currently reading post, but it's been hard for me to get into. It has picked up, but this one is not going to be a quick read for me. It's written very differently from anything I've ever read, and the style is a little off-putting to me. The plot, in a nutshell, is that Viviane is sent to New York City sometime in the 1940s (pre-WWII) to live with her theater-owning aunt after being kicked out of Vassar College. While there she befriends showgirls, spends night-after-night on the town, and has a life-altering love affair.
Treasured Find - Jasmine, or Jazz, has a really big secret. She's a human raising two shifter boys. They've managed to escape the attention of other shifters for years until Rafe, a royal cat shifter, comes to their little town investigating the illegal adoption of another shifter child. Turns out, Rafe and Jazz are fated mates, but Rafe's family's old enemy has followed him to town and will do anything to hurt him.
The Seventh Bride - Fifteen-year-old Rhea is devastated when she learns she has to marry Lord Crevan, but those of low birth don't say no to noblemen. When her husband-to-be demands she come to his home prior to the wedding, Rhea discovers he's been betrothed six other times, and all of his wives have been trapped in his enchanted castle.
Wild Open Hearts - This is the third book in the Bluewater Billionaires series I've been reading. This one features Luna, the CEO of a vegan makeup company that's changing the cosmetics industry. As with the first two books, she finds herself caught in a scandal. Determined to turn things around, Luna enters a partnership with Lucky Dog, a rescue organization, and finds herself falling for the ex-biker who founded it.
Bacchanal - Eliza can communicate with animals. When the Bacchanal Carnival offers her a home, Eliza sees it as a way out of the swamp trap of Baton Rouge, but the Bacchanal is no ordinary carnival. It's home to an ancient demon that feeds on innocent souls.
A Court of Mist and Fury - This is the sequel to A Court of Thorn and Roses, which I read last year. I honestly think I might have waited too long to read this as I'm fairly lost on the plot so far. This one might turn into a case of needing to reread the first book before I go any further.
