14 Facts About my Relationship
My husband and I are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary later this year, but we've actually been together for a little more than 12 years. To say that I am lucky to have found him and made a life together is a pretty big understatement. I thought it would be fun to share a little bit about our relationship over the last dozen years with this 14 question survey one of my friends shared on Facebook.
1. Where did you meet your other half?
We actually "met" online through a dating site. We met in person at Beef O'Brady's.
2. How long have you been with your significant other?
A little over 12 years.
3. If you're married, when did you say "I do"?
September 15, 2012
4. What song did you walk down the aisle to?
Classical guitar music. I can't remember the name of the piece. Canon in D maybe?
5. Do you have any children yet?
Yep. One daughter, plus two furbabies.
6. What's your favorite thing about your other half?
He doesn't let me stew in anger or sadness. He's constantly trying to make me laugh or smile. His steadfastness when it comes to our relationship and how he never puts anyone before us, except for Alexis from time to time.
7. Were you and your other half high school sweethearts?
No. We didn't grow up in the same hometown.
8. Where was your first date?
Beef O'Brady's
9. How long were you dating before you said "I love you"?
Three months, I think.
10. How long were you dating your other half before he/she proposed?
Right at two years.
11. Where is your favorite place you have traveled with your other half?
Savannah
12. How do you and your other half usually spend Valentines Day?
Working, LOL
13. What does your favorite 'date night' consist of?
Honestly, having the house to ourselves, ordering takeout and watching a movie in bed.
14. What is the best gift you have received from your spouse?
Oh wow, that's tough. He is such a thoughtful gift giver when it comes to me, and I truly love everything he's ever given me. But if I have to choose, I'm going to say the pearl earrings and necklace he gave me as a wedding gift.

Hi, Ashton!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing tidbits about your relationship with your husband. It struck me that, unlike many couples, you guys weren't in a big rush during courtship. The words "I love you" were not spoken for three months, and a proposal of marriage didn't come until the two year mark. To me, that timetable is reasonable. It shows maturity and makes more sense than "We got married in a fever hotter than a pepper sprout," as the song by Johnny & June and Nancy & Lee goes. I also appreciate that you have a spouse who injects humor to bring you up when you're down. Maintaining a sense of humor in a relationship is vitally important. Watching a movie in bed together tells me you are both down to earth people and well suited to be life partners. Happy Valentine's Day to you both and congratulations on your upcoming 10th wedding anniversary!
Thank you for your kind words, Shady. They mean so much. Enjoy your week!
