Spring Reading List: 10 Books to Add to Your TBR

by - March 31, 2025

I'm back with another seasonal reading list. We're not going to talk about how many (how few?) books I actually read from my winter reading list...

My spring break is just around the corner, and we all know that I'll get a lot of reading done that week...when I'm not doing homework. So I looked through my ridiculously long TBR list and picked ten books that I think are good fits for this time of year. Of course I had to include my April and May book club picks (see the full list here), but I also have titles from some of my favorite authors. I hope you'll find something to tickle your reading fancy.

Author: Nadine Brandes

This is my April book club pick, and I am excited to dive into this retelling of the infamous Guy Fawkes. This book is told from the point of view of Fawkes' son, Thomas, and has a magical twist. The people of London are ruled by two forces: the color powers and the Stone Plague. Thomas hopes to bond with a gray mask to remove the stone that has invaded his body and is killing him. However, on the day of his Color Test, Thomas's father doesn't show up at all. Thomas tracks down his father and learns of his plans to kill the king. In order to save his own life, Thomas joins the cause.

Author: Kristin Wright

This is my book club pick for May. It all begins with a mother being poisoned with a wolfsbane-laced smoothie at the fifth grade graduation party. The accused is her own friend and PTA president, Kira Grant. The only evidence against her is the poisonous plant growing in her backyard and a bit of a mean streak. Kira hires defense attorney Allison Barton to represent her, and Allison is determined to find the truth and advance her career.

Author: Barbara Davis

Barbara Davis is a new favorite author for me. I absolutely love her writing style and have yet to read a book by her that I did not enjoy, so I am excited to dive into this dual timeline tale of love and loss. For generations, Soline's family has run an exclusive bridal salon in Paris, but World War II leaves her world and her heart in ruins, so she packs it all away. Decades later, aspiring gallery owner, Rory, leases Soline's old property and discovers all that she packed away. When Rory returns the mementos, it's clear the two were destined to meet, and Rory may hold the key to righting a four-decade wrong.

Author: Rochelle B. Weinstein

Avery loves Jude, but when he asks her to marry him, she can't commit before reconciling with the one she left behind in North Carolina. When she returns to her childhood home, Jude's teen daughter, Elle, goes with her. Elle is dealing with the loss of her mother and the complicated emotions of her first love. The two form an unexpected alliance, giving them the courage to move forward and Avery what she needs to confront her past.

Author: Laura Barrow

Twenty-eight years after her twin sister, Georgia, went missing, Savannah convinces her two older sisters, Rayanne and Sue Ellen, to return home to Louisiana to retrieve the time capsule they buried. Inside the capsule they find a photo that was taken on the day Georgia disappeared. In the background of the picture is a familiar woman. Rayanne and Sue Ellen just want to move on with their lives, but Savannah is determined to find the woman and maybe a clue to the past.

Author: Lucy Score

When Naomi's estranged twin calls her for help, it's the perfect excuse for Naomi to run away from her wedding. Too bad Tina hasn't changed at all; she not only steals Naomi's car and money but leaves her with the niece she didn't know existed. Now Naomi is stuck, but since Knox witnessed her life implode he figures the least he can do is help her out...even though he prefers solitude and doesn't tolerate drama.

Author: C.G. Blaine

When Eden's ex dumps her, she doesn't cancel the romantic getaway they'd booked. She doesn't plan on going, content to waste his money like he wasted two years of her life, but then he gets engaged and she boards the plane. Meanwhile, Beck needs to lie low for awhile. He found out about an abandoned week at a luxury resort and decides to claim it as his own. Of course it's Eden's "romantic" getaway he's conned his way into. He knows he should leave, but Eden's brother offers him $10,000 to spend the next five days keeping guys away from her. So he agrees to pretend to be her boyfriend, but we all know how these stories go. They'll have to return to reality eventually.

Author: Lindsay Jayne Ashford

I've read several things by this author and really enjoyed them. This one is set during World War II in Cornwall, England. After surviving a ship that was torpedoed by a German U-boat, Alice washes up on the Cornwall shore. The Viscount Jack Trewella, who found her, suspects Alice is either a prisoner of war or a spy, but her secret is one he never would have guessed. Alice seizes the opportunity to reinvent herself. As she begins falling for Jack, she realizes he, too, has secrets.

Author: Charlie N. Holmberg

Charlie Holmberg is one of my favorite authors, although nothing has yet to eclipse The Paper Magician series. Merritt Fernsby inherits a remote estate that's sat empty for more than a century. When he moves in, the doors slam shut and lock behind him, trapping Merritt inside. Enter Hulda Larkin. She's been trained in the taming of homes like Whimbrel House while preserving their historical and magical significance. She advises Merritt to make the house his ally and determines that she'll need to move in as well. Hulda and Merritt grow closer as the investigation goes deeper, but there's an outside force threatening Whimbrel's magic.

Author: Kristin Rockaway

Nicole Palmieri is a workaholic with no time for a social life or a love life, and that's fine with her until her best friend gets engaged and asks Nicole to be her maid of honor. Determined to do all the things, Nicole meticulously schedules out the next six months of her life. It's a semi-solid plan until she meets and begins falling for Brandon Phelps. Scheduling time to fall in love could turn Nicole's perfect plans into chaos.
